This past weekend I took a drive extending over a wide area, from Schoharie County in New York to Litchfield County in Connecticut. I made a number of stops along the way, including at the historical Copake Iron Works, and at Bash Bish Falls, the tallest waterfall in Massachusetts.

| Bright foliage is seen on Donats Mountain in Cobleskill NY. |
| Autumn branches shade Gates Hill Road in Fulton. |
| Rolling farmland along Armlin Hill Road in Fulton. |
| View southwest from Edwards Hill Road in Rensselaerville. Mount Pisgah, at center, dominates the skyline. |
| Closer view of farmland and forest below Mount Steenburgh. |
| This windswept barn on Edwards Hill seems to be in surprisingly good condition. |
| A lone maple tree, already bare, guards this isolated farmhouse. |
| This forest a half-mile distant was ripe with fall colors. |
| A large maple tree at the edge of a field overlooks the valley below. |
| A farm on Route 20, four miles away. I imaged this farm in detail last winter. |
| A distant view of the Susquehanna Turnpike, winding its way up the mountainside. |
| Red dominated this young maple tree in Hudson NY. |
| View of the old blasting furnace at the Copake Iron Works in Copake NY. |
| The museum at the iron works contained a model of the old company town at its height. |
| Century-old iron ingots forged at Copake Falls. |
| A view of the small museum at the historical site. |
| A 3/4-mile hiking trail leads from NY to the Bash Bish falls in MA. This is the brook, near the trailhead. |
| View upstream along the Bash Bish Brook, still from the NY side of the border. |
| The trail wound through relatively young maple forest. |
| Distant view of the falls, from a lookout along the trail. |
| A closer view, focused on the boulder that divides the falls into two distinct streams. |
| A sideways view allowed me to capture the whole waterfall in one shot. |
| A young birch tree (Betula lenta) kept blocking my view. |
| Cascades along the Bash Bish Brook above the main falls. |
| Side view of the falls where they empty into the pool at their base. |
| Looking downstream along the brook from the falls. |
| A closer shot of the base of the falls. |
| Autumn evening on Guilder Pond, in the Mount Everett State Reservation in Mount Washington MA. |
